Two big events of the youth were held in the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) parishes of St. Fidelis Dolok Sanggul of the North Sumatera District and St. Francis Xavier Parish Meliau of the West Borneo District (Indonesia) on 17-19 June 2017 and 30 June-July 2 respectively.
500 young people participated in that youth rally held at St. Fidelis Parish. Meanwhile, 530 people participated in the youth event at St. Francis Xavier Parish. The theme of the youth rallies was “Dare To Dream and Make It Happen”.
These two youth rallies took the form of and some speakers gave inputs on the SVD spirituality, social and environmental issues, economic impact on society and modernism. They motivated and encouraged the youth to do their best for a better life rooted in the Word of God. Furthermore, the youth got to analyze their level of self-competence to survive in this competitive world while actively dedicating their time for the Church and society.
The local government graced these youth rallies. In Meliau, for example, the Regent and some members of the local house of representatives were present. their presence is a recognition of the work of the Church and their partnership in taking care the youth as valuable asset of the country.
