Divine Word Missionaries hold a workshop on mission animation in India

A workshop on ‘Mission Animation’ for the Divine Word Missionaries involved in Mission/Pastoral ministries was held at Shanti Bhavan, Jharsuguda on 18-19 July 2018. Fr. Ronald Pereira, SVD Provincial Superior and Fr.Petrus Kullu, SVD Vice Provincial inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and welcoming the participants.

Fr. Tony Herbert, SJ from Hazaribagh Province was the resource person. He dealt with the context in our mission, structural relations, economic classes, poverty, choices of Jesus in mission and priesthood. On the second day there was a panel on Characteristic Dimensions of the Society by Frs. Anuranjan Bilung, Christopher Kerketta, Rasal Xess, Sunil Damor, Lancy Rodrigues and Christopher John, followed by a long discussion on pastoral concerns and action plan for the coming days. There were 37 participants and it was organized by Fr.Christopher John, INE Mission Secretary.

Ongoing Formation Programme - 2018

The Ongoing Formation Programme for the young priests of INE Province was organized at St. Arnold’s School, Jhartarang, Rourkela from 3rd to 5th August, 2018. Two deacons and nine priests attended the programme. On the first day Fr. Ronald Pereira, shared the very outcome of the 18th General Chapter especially the priority towards Ongoing Formation for the renewal and transformation of our life. He also motivated us by explaining to us the different ministries in our Province and motivated us to be creative and to take initiative. Fr. Augustine Toppo, SDB, shared his experiences on the topics on priesthood: a fascinating vocation, formation: life-long growth and youth ministry.

On the second day Sr. Manjula Bara, H.M and Fr. Rasal Xess, SVD shared their involvements in the field of social development, ecology and JPIC concerns in the context of Chotanagpur. While sharing his experience in the education apostolate in INE Province, Fr. Thomas Korattiyil, SVD inspired and motivated us to be ‘A Passionate – Vibrant SVD Missionary’. This programme also provided ample opportunity for the participants to share their mission experiences with all its strengths, challenges, and future possibilities. On the third day we ventured on a Mission Tour to Vidya Jyoti – SVD Minor Seminary Lungai, Catholic Church Jalda and Catholic Church Bondamunda. We also visited the religious communities of Handmaids of Mary, Apostolic Carmel Sisters, Capuchin Friars and SSpS Sisters working hand in hand in formation, pastoral, educational and social apostolates.
