International Women’s Day in Indore: Empowering women empowers all of us

The International Women’s Day was celebrated on 9th March by the domestic workers and waste pickers women in Janvikas, Indore. More than 700 women representatives gathered from 35 slums of Indore city. Advocate Ms. Shanno Khan was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. Sumitra Yadav (Professor, M Y Hospital) was the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries were Fr. Xavier T (Provincial SVD India Central Province), Dr. Mathew CP (Principal, Indore School of Social Work), Frs. Nicholas Martis, Jomon and Michael.

Chief Guest Advocate Shanno Khan while addressing the gathering stressed the need for women to be empowered and become aware of their rights. Dr. Sumitra Yadav urged women to work towards bringing gender equality in the society. She inspired the audience by enumerating her struggles in life to become a doctor. Women performed various cultural programs like folk dance, cinematic dance, songs, skit etc. Students of DB Tech Skill training program staged a skit. Women's Day celebration was concluded with sumptuous meal.
